Film Theory Documentary: Outcasts

  1. Nice review! The only issue I can see is that the Outsiders is mixed tonally by both the book being a 60's novel based on the 50's rewritten into a film in the late 70's early 80's. I also liked your analysis because I was interested in adapting this this novel into The Gut Feeling. Also prab wants me to watch Perks, and I'm glad there weren't that many spoilers. I also appreciate the mixing between the film the synthesis of analysis that differed your essay from my own. Another great part of your video was the use of overlays and keyframing that really added more production value to the documentary. I also knew I was enjoying it when it passed by so fast! Nice job overall. Stay gold.

  2. GIIIIINNNOOOOOO
Your documentary was exemplary, as was to be expected. Your sounded comfortable with your information and opinion, Your vocabulary and film terminology was extravagant, The structure of your film was artfully put together, and the scenes you used were relevant to the topics you discussed. Your film usage was lovely and I loved your back to the future footage with the whole then and now aspect, it was great. Both of the films you used were favorites of mine and your comparisons of the evolution of the outsider throughout time into an individual. Your documentary was excellent and Im glad I had the pleasure of watching it.

  3. Stellar job completing this review Mr. Flores! I love the choice of choosing to analyze the idea of an outsider and how that concept has changed from the time period of The Outsiders to The Perks of being a Wallflower while still retaining many universal themes. I liked that you were clear and concise, making it easy for the viewer to understand your points. One thing that really helped me become engrossed by your review was the piano accompaniment, as it truly and subtly helped your review. Overall, I think this is one of the best ones I've seen so far. Stay gold.

  4. Wow Gino, your documentary was phenomenal! Not only did you expertly use film language and specific shot types within various scenes to depict symbolism within the film’s, but all of your points were 100% spot on! You did a truly fantastic job! It was obvious you researched your topic well and knew what you were talking about, and you integration of other movies such as “Back to the Future” as small puns carried out when switching between the two time periods of film I found extremely clever and amusing. Even when comparing the films and switching between the two, it never became confusing, your message was always clear and concise. Your visuals and editing did a great job of supporting your claims as well and you didn’t just state something and move on, you went into depth and explained in detail aspects such as the characterization of Ponyboy and Charlie. A+ my friend!
